Nathan Reitz Must Follow Jerry Costello’s Lead and Oppose the Graduated Income Tax

One of the last votes Nathan Reitz’s father, former State Rep. Dan Reitz, took was Madigan’s 2011 tax hike; now, Pritzker and Madigan want Nathan Reitz’s first vote to be yet another tax hike

“The fix is in. One of the last votes Nathan Reitz’s father, former State Rep. Dan Reitz, took was Mike Madigan’s 2011 tax hike. Now, Pritzker and Madigan want one of the first votes of Nathan Reitz to be yet another tax hike on Illinois families and small businesses. Tax-hiking is the Reitz family business. Reitz must follow Jerry Costello’s lead and oppose the Pritzker-Madigan-backed graduated income tax. If Reitz supports the tax hike, voters and taxpayers will make Reitz’s tenure in the General Assembly a short one.” – Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider

Moments ago, Democratic county chairmen in the 116th House District voted to appoint Nathan Reitz, son of former State Rep. Dan Reitz, to the vacancy created by former State Rep. Jerry Costello’s resignation. Costello resigned to take an appointment from Governor J.B. Pritzker in the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

J.B. Pritzker and Mike Madigan are looking for a vote in support of their tax-hiking agenda, and they think Nathan Reitz is their guy. One of the very first votes Reitz may take before the end of May is on a constitutional amendment to repeal Illinois’ flat income tax and authorize a graduated income tax. Jerry Costello was one of the first Democrats in the Illinois House of Representatives to oppose the graduated income tax.

Unfortunately, tax-hiking is the Reitz family business. One of the very last votes Nathan Reitz’s father, former State Rep. Dan Reitz, took was Mike Madigan’s 2011 tax hike. After voting for Madigan’s tax hike, Dan Reitz decided he would rather not seek re-election than face voters the following November. The Chicago Tribune Editorial Board published an editorial in 2012 on “tax-hiker” Dan Reitz and others for pushing false premises for the income tax hike.

Now, Pritzker and Madigan want one of Nathan Reitz’s first votes to be yet another tax hike on Illinois families and small businesses. Nathan Reitz must follow Jerry Costello’s lead and oppose the graduated income tax and all associated legislation. If Reitz supports the Pritzker-Madigan tax hike, voters and taxpayers will make Reitz’s tenure in the General Assembly a short one.

Two Weeks Into His Jobs Tax Proposal, Pritzker Already Breaks His Promise To Middle Class Families

Pritzker’s change in rhetoric is the first sign that his jobs tax is a blank check for Pritzker and Madigan to raise taxes on everyone

“It’s been two short weeks since J.B. Pritzker unveiled his jobs tax, and he has already broken his promise to middle class families. Pritzker called his plan ‘tax relief’ for the middle class, but now he says it’s ‘not…an income tax increase.’ Tomorrow it will be a tax hike on all Illinoisans.

“Pritzker’s change in rhetoric is further proof that his jobs tax proposal is nothing more than a blank check for Pritzker and Madigan to raise taxes on anyone, at any time, for any reason. J.B. Pritzker and Mike Madigan cannot be trusted with a blank check to spend more of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.” – Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot

Think Big Illinois, a dark money political front group backed by Pritzker, is out with its first TV ad highlighting Pritzker’s jobs tax. The ad says, “97% of Illinoisans WILL NOT see an income tax increase.”

Barely two weeks into his tax hike plan, Pritzker has already broken his promise to middle class families.

When Governor J.B. Pritzker announced his plan to raise taxes on Illinois families and small businesses, he spuriously claimed that 97% of Illinoisans will see “tax relief” under his plan.

Pritzker’s change in rhetoric is further proof that his jobs tax proposal is nothing more than a blank check for Pritzker and Madigan to raise taxes on anyone, at any time, for any reason.

First, Pritzker’s plan was “tax relief.” Now, it’s “not…an income tax increase.” What will Pritzker’s plan be tomorrow? A tax hike on everyone.

Unless Pritzker and Madigan are putting their tax rates into the constitution, voters will not actually be voting on Pritzker’s proposed tax rates in his so-called ‘fair tax’ plan. They will be voting on whether or not Pritzker and Madigan should have a blank check to raise tax rates to any level they want.

We all know Springfield politicians have squandered taxpayer dollars for decades. J.B. Pritzker and Mike Madigan cannot be trusted with a blank check to spend even more of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

ILGOP Chairman Tim Schneider Statement on Governor J.B. Pritzker’s $3.4 Billion Tax Hike

Moments ago, Governor J.B. Pritzker released proposed graduated income tax rates as part of his plan to raise taxes on Illinois families and businesses. Pritzker’s proposed tax hike plan also puts in place “one of the highest in the nation” tax rates for businesses. Pritzker claims his tax increase would raise an additional $3.4 billion in tax revenue for state coffers. Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider issued the following statement in response:

“More tax hikes will not solve Illinois’ fiscal problems. Pritzker’s proposed $3.4 billion tax increase will lead to even more out-migration of Illinois families, businesses, and jobs. Tax-and-spend Illinois Democrats cannot be trusted with more of our tax dollars. That is why Illinois Republicans stand united against the Pritzker-Madigan tax hike and will continue to support reforms that will lower taxes, create jobs, and make our state thrive once again.”

Pritzker, Democrats Refuse To Say How High They’d Raise Taxes In Their Tax Hike Plan

“Biss, Kennedy and Pritzker have repeatedly declined to say what the rates or income levels should be under a graduated income tax”

The Democratic candidates for governor want to hike taxes again, but they still refuse to say by how much.

J.B. Pritzker, Chris Kennedy, and Daniel Biss all want to raise taxes even higher than Mike Madigan’s recent 32% income tax hike via a new graduated income tax system, but they aren’t giving out any specific details. One independent group says such a tax system would raise taxes on small businesses, Illinois’ largest source of job creation.

Recently at the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board forum, J.B. Pritzker was directly asked three times what the tax rates would be under his so-called “detailed” tax plan, and Pritzker refused to answer the question each time.

Now, the leading Democratic candidates for governor were once again asked to outline the specifics of their plan to hike taxes, but they balked yet another time.

From the Associated Press:

“The Democrats… favor replacing Illinois’ flat tax — in which all filers are taxed at the same rate — with a graduated or ‘progressive’ system in which higher earners pay higher tax rates.

“…Biss, Kennedy and Pritzker have repeatedly declined to say what the rates or income levels should be under a graduated income tax, noting it would have to be negotiated and that the decision also must include discussions about spending.”

So why are J.B. Pritzker and the other Democratic candidates for governor mum on the details of their tax hike plans?

Because to offer any specific details of higher tax rates would tie them even further to Mike Madigan and his job-killing, unpopular tax hikes.

###

J.B. Pritzker Won’t Say What The Tax Rates Would Be In What He Calls “Detailed” Tax Plan

Look for Pritzker, Democrats “to be vague on the question of rates because to be specific would hand Rauner a tax-hike club he would use to beat them with”

We already know Democratic candidate for governor J.B. Pritzker loves tax hikes, just like his tax-hiking political patron, Mike Madigan.

Last April, Pritzker offered up his own tax hike plan even larger than Madigan’s 32% increase. And after Madigan’s levy became law, Pritzker said Illinois may need yet another tax increase to pay for all of his new spending.

Just last week, Pritzker released two new campaign ads touting a so-called “detailed plan” to hike taxes on Illinoisans even more under a new graduated income tax system.

The only problem? There are no details.

Pritzker’s commercials or campaign website offer no details of what the new, higher tax rates would be.

From the News-Gazette:

But look for the Democrats, excluding Daiber, to be vague on the question of rates because to be specific would hand Rauner a tax-hike club he would use to beat them with.
Demonstrating that point, Pritzker just released two more television commercials in which he endorsed the amendment without further elaboration.
So why is J.B. Pritzker mum on the details of his new tax hike plan?
Because to offer any specific details of higher tax rates would tie him even further to Mike Madigan and his massive, unpopular tax hikes.

J.B. Pritzker Doubles Down On His Promise To Hike Taxes, But Refuses To Say By How Much

Pritzker’s new TV ad touts his “detailed plan” to hike taxes, but his plan doesn’t even include tax rates

“J.B. Pritzker’s so-called ‘detailed plan’ to increase taxes is light on details because he knows he can’t make the math work for all of his new spending. Pritzker says he’ll hike taxes even higher than Madigan, but won’t say by how much. Pritzker’s tax hike plan lacks specifics because he knows it will decimate Illinois jobs and small businesses. Illinois taxpayers can’t afford J.B. Pritzker working hand in hand with Mike Madigan in Springfield to hike taxes even higher.” – Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot

Today, J.B. Pritzker’s campaign for governor released two new television ads touting a “detailed plan” to hike taxes even higher than Mike Madigan’s recent 32% tax hike.

So how detailed is Pritzker’s tax hike plan?

Not detailed at all. In fact, Pritzker’s tax hike plan doesn’t even say what the tax rates will be. He just promises that taxes will be going up, decimating Illinois small businesses in the process, as one independent group said about a similar tax hike plan.

So where exactly are J.B. Pritzker’s so-called “detailed plans” to hike taxes? How high is Pritzker willing to increase taxes? Does Pritzker think further tax hikes won’t destroy jobs or increase the exodus of Illinois families to other states? These are questions Pritzker must answer.

Since J.B. Pritzker is light on details, perhaps Illinois voters should give his political patron, Mike Madigan, a call.

ILGOP Releases Digital Ad: Tax Hike

Pritzker’s recent interviews have made his commitment to more tax hikes clearer than ever before

Today, the Illinois Republican Party released a new digital adTax Hike. The ad highlights the undeniable link between J.B. Pritzker and Mike Madigan and their support for even more tax hikes in Illinois.

In a recent interview, Pritzker made his view on taxes clear: “Illinois may need another tax hike to balance the books and pay for needed public investments, even if the progressive income tax eventually comes about. That was the fiscal bottom line from Democratic gubernatorial hopeful J.B. Pritzker…”

Pritzker and Madigan have long been advocates for increased taxes. When asked by a reporter if his plan is “just for tax increases,” Madigan laughs and dodges the question, while J.B. Pritzker refuses to admit that people are leaving Illinois because of Madigan’s track record of tax hikes.

Despite a 32% tax hike earlier this year with no reforms to state government, Pritzker and Madigan continue to push for higher taxes on Illinois families. Our state cannot afford more taxes on our citizens.

Now is the time to stop Pritzker and Madigan. No more tax hikes.

Following Madigan’s Lead, J.B. Pritzker Supports Another Income Tax Hike on Every Illinoisan

In latest interview, Pritzker states his support for yet another tax increase

“Illinois may need another tax hike to balance the books and pay for needed public investments, even if the progressive income tax eventually comes about.

“That was the fiscal bottom line from Democratic gubernatorial hopeful J.B. Pritzker today as the Chicago entrepreneur and investor, who’s moved ahead in some recent polls, met with Crain’s Editorial Board for a wide-ranging interview.”

That is how Greg Hinz’s Monday column on J.B. Pritzker column begins. Pritzker continues to mirror his patron Mike Madigan when it comes to taxes, promoting even higher taxes despite Madigan’s 32% tax hike on Illinois families earlier this year.

Madigan muscled through the increase this summer, and if he has his way, will continue to raise taxes.

This comes as no surprise, as Madigan has stated a tax increase to 5% is a “good place to begin.”

This all while Pritzker continues to dodge releasing his own tax returns. It has been 221 days since Pritzker pledged to release his taxes, but he continues to hide behind empty promises of ‘soon.’

When it comes to raising taxes, Pritzker is lock step with Madigan: more taxes, no reform.

J.B. Pritzker Kicks Off “Think Big” Bus Tour with Mike Madigan in the Driver’s Seat

Pritzker “thinks big” by supporting Madigan’s big 32% tax hike and other taxes on Illinois families

“If J.B. Pritzker were an honest politician, he would dub his upcoming road trip the ‘Tax Hike’ tour, but he only has snake oil to sell to Illinois families. Even before Pritzker and Madigan got their 32% tax hike enacted into law, Pritzker supported other big tax hikes on Illinois families. With tax hikes like these, it’s clear Madigan is in the driver’s seat on the Pritzker campaign bus.” – Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot

Today, Madigan ally and Democrat candidate for governor J.B. Pritzker plans to kick off his “Think Big” bus tour across Illinois. Just how exactly does Pritzker think big? By supporting Mike Madigan’s big 32% tax hike, of course.

When Pritzker isn’t “[throwing] rose petals in Madigan’s path,” he’s pushing Madigan’s tax hikes and his “pro-Chicago,” no reform agenda,

But even before Pritzker got his big, Madigan-backed, 32% tax hike enacted into law, he supported other big tax hikes.

This past April, Pritzker made it clear that he supports a substantial increase in the state income taxes and said the state income tax should be increased to at least 5 percent, perhaps higher.

Later in May, Pritzker’s campaign backed a plan to “tax all federally-taxable retirement income.

And while J.B. Pritzker has been pushing tax hikes on Illinois families, he’s cutting deals with crooked Cook County insiders to get his own property taxes lowered, even as he opposes a property tax freeze.

With tax hikes like these, it’s clear Madigan is in the driver’s seat on the Pritzker campaign bus.

Here’s a live look at Madigan and Pritzker departing Chicago:

Kennedy Proposes “a basket of taxes”

On Top of Mike Madigan’s 32% Permanent Income Tax Hike

For Chris Kennedy, Mike Madigan’s 32% permanent income tax hike is only the beginning.

Just this weekend, Kennedy was quoted in the Journal Standard proposing a “basket of taxes”.

And just days ago, a bumbling Kennedy told the 40th Ward Democrats that “we need to broaden” the income tax.

Watch here.

Kennedy’s tax-hiking remarks all come after Madigan’s 32% income tax hike became law.

It’s clear that Chris Kennedy is just another Madigan Democrat who will take even more of your hard-earned money.
