Today, ILGOP Chairman Don Tracy released the following statement highlighting Illinois Democrats proposed “poison pill” legislation.
“Some think Illinois Democrat legislators embrace Biden’s open borders policy and Chicago’s sanctuary city policy because they expect illegal immigrants will sooner or later vote for them. Although Democrats deny this, why then does Democrat Senate Bill 2978 prohibit cooperation between the Illinois Secretary of State and election authorities? Are they trying to cover up non-citizen and other illegal voter registrations?”
SB2978 passed the Illinois Senate on May 2, 2024 and is under consideration by the Illinois House. The Illinois Republican Party continues to work to stop this legislation from advancing forward.
