U.S. Attorney General William Barr has issued a summary of the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential Election to members of Congress. Attorney General Barr stated that the special counsel “did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its effort to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

The American people should feel even more confident in the 2016 Election results. President Trump has been completely and totally vindicated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s expansive, two-year investigation into false allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.

Despite the Democrats’ best efforts to de-legitimize the election of President Trump, the Special Counsel concluded there was no collusion or conspiracy. All Americans concerned about the integrity of our country’s democratic institutions should be pleased with those findings.

But let’s not forget – the Democrats’ collusion narrative was a total hoax that has inflicted great harm on our American democracy. It was a cynical attempt to overturn the legitimate election of President Trump. The American people deserve to know the full truth of how it all began – inside the FBI and Obama Administration.

The Democrats, including some here in Illinois, must end their collusion delusion and get to work on the real public policy issues affecting our state and country.
