The Illinois Republican Party has chosen Peoria as the host city for the 2016 Republican State Convention. The convention will be held at the Peoria Civic Center and Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette on May 20-22, 2016. The Peoria County Republican Central Committee will be the local host organization for the event.
“Peoria will be a phenomenal host city for the Illinois Republican Party in 2016. After careful review of proposals from six different cities, it became clear that Peoria is the perfect destination to celebrate a new era of the Republican Party in Illinois. I want to thank the Peoria community for their hospitality and dedication to hosting a successful convention, particularly the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, State Central Committeeman Mike Bigger (CD-18), Peoria County Chairwoman Katherine Coyle, and Peoria City Councilman Ryan Spain. With their continued leadership, the 2016 Republican State Convention will be a tremendous success.” -- Tim Schneider, Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party
“The Peoria area is honored that the Illinois Republican Party has selected Peoria as its home in 2016. A conference such as this allows the Peoria area to showcase our community to representatives from across the state. More importantly, this is yet another conference that helps stimulate our local economy.“ -- Don Welch, President and CEO of the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau
“I am ecstatic that the Illinois Republican Party has entrusted my hometown with the privilege of hosting the 2016 Republican State Convention. The event will be an economic boon for the area and will showcase Peoria to 1,500 Republican delegates and hundreds of guests, sponsors, vendors, and members of the media. I look forward to showing Republicans from every corner of Illinois what makes Peoria a great place to live, work, and visit.” -- Katherine Coyle, Chairwoman of the Peoria County Republican Central Committee
